Matisse painting goes on display

Paintings by Henri Matisse and Mark Rothko have left upon arrangement in London forward of sales in New York next month.

Matisse's Bouquet pour le fourteen Juillet 1919 is approaching to fetch $18-25m (£11.6-16m) during Sotheby's impressionist and modern art sale upon 5 May.

Rothko's 1961 work Untitled is approaching to fetch a same cost when it is offering for sale a week later.

The functions have been upon arrangement with functions by Monet, Modigliani and Picasso, during Sotheby's in London until Tuesday.

Also starting under a hammer is a self-portrait by Andy Warhol, from a collection of fashion engineer Tom Ford.

The purple-hued work from Warhol's last series of self-portraits is approaching to fetch $10-15m (£6.5-9.7m).

Sotheby's will be anticipating for serve signs of a new upturn in art market prices, which have encouraged sellers to suggest singular and profitable works.

"You're starting to see a little great prices in New York," said Philip Hoffman, arch senior manager of art investment residence The Fine Art Group Fund.

"The singular pieces have been starting to go through a roof tiles and make prices that we wouldn't design to see in a mercantile climate we're in."
