Norton trail angers Doctor fans

Thousands of Doctor Who fans have contacted a BBC to protest which a finale of Saturday night's episode was ruined by a trailer for a subsequent show.

The on-screen caption featured an charcterised animation of presenter Graham Norton, horde of Over a Rainbow.

It appeared as The Doctor, played by Matt Smith, was creation an romantic speech during a story's cliffhanger finale for The Time of Angels.

The trailer was seen by millions of viewers watching on BBC One in England.

Fans have also been angry on amicable networking site Twitter. One wrote: "Why is a BBC treating its audience like idiots?"

Another said: "Don't wink or Graham Norton will locate you."

The BBC often promotes programmes in this way but a house has concurred which in this case a scheduling was inappropriate.

A BBC spokesman said: "We apologise for a timing of Saturday night's trail."

It is not a first time an unexpected coming by Norton has angered Doctor Who fans.

When a array returned in 2005 after a 16-year break, a technical error caused Norton's voice to be quickly heard over a episodes opening scenes.
